Bernie Madoff , and many more like him stand to gain, benefit, however, only one, or a couple take the fall. He was guilty however he did not act alone, where are the others? His illegal activity may go back as far as the 70’s. There are a lot of Bernie Madoffs still running around free without penalisation! Martha Stewart was singled out, went to jail regarding insider trading. Take note of all the corporations who trade and the people who invest in the corporations!
Look at Enron in 2001( who went to jail there), in 2002 the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was created as a precursor. Did it really make a difference? No! We have lobbyist and government who look out for the interests of Corporations. The corporation (CEO‘s) can cheat, lie, steal, run their corporation into the ground, keep their money and leave their employees without anything. This system needs to change, there needs to be accountability, the 2oo8 bailout group , all lost money yet CEO’s kept bonuses , cashed in their stock, got the bailout money and some still declared bankruptcy after. Where did all that money go? There was a gag order drummed up on Bush’s watch on releasing info about the TARP , how convenient and unethical. Well I think it needs to be overturned, overruled, we are suppose to know the finances of our government, its our money for goodness sake! I think about the out right , in our face, robbery that has been done by our government, and corporations, it is appalling and we need to stop it and change U.S. legislation!
After I was born in Spain my dad, mother and I did a tour in Japan. What does that say for my mom, a native Spanish woman traveling and living in Japan. Too bad that I was little, I would have loved to have had that experience. I did grade (k-2) in Spain then (3-5) in Sigonella, Sicily. We lived in a town called Nicolosi , (Google map/earth) it was maybe an hour from Mount Etna. The Villa we lived in was gated, it was two story but we resided on the top floor it had a huge stair case that led to the top layer of the upper house, it had a huge upstairs balcony, the bottom house was not occupied. The bottom floor (yard) was tiled mainly, the back of the house had a maze walkway with a well, some fruit trees, it was just fun and dreamy. I use to roller skate on it. I remember the pasta and pizza, I loved the pasta, pizza and the natural sparkling water.
Then my family and I moved to Pensacola, Florida. The US is very wide and spread open, in Europe roads are smaller, walking was very common in Europe, however in the States you need a vehicle 80% of the time to go places. I vaguely remember this time period, but I have moments, like when we were in New Orleans and I had grits for the first time. I remember the American television being different from Spain, more channels and lots of funny shows. There seem to be some awareness of the differences in geography, America is very spread out wide roads, a lot of places are driving distance.
Welcome readers to my Blog ! I hope to give you a little in-site to the Woman behind the words. I was born to Stan and Rosie, in Rota, Spain, where my Mother is from. I was given the name Natalia. I come from a military background, my father use to be in the Navy. Having a father from Iowa( Luxembourg ancestry) and a mother from Spain, I was predisposed to universal thoughts from the onset. People are people no matter what country they reside in. They may have different customs, traditions or language, but the fundamental needs are all the same in each and every country and person.
I graduated from high school in Spain and went on to college. I took classes in Spain, my parents were still residing overseas when I decided to see what being independent meant. (I was 20 at the time). In Europe it is custom for children to live at home passed the age of 18. I’m Sure my father and mother had different views on that one! My father would always tell me I live a sheltered life, so I wanted to check it out, experience what that meant. To experience the big world on my own, the transition was different and the concept was kind of hard to wrap my mind around. I had been with my family for 20 years of my life and now I was on my own, well not entirely. I moved to the US, Jacksonville, Florida where I was roommates with my friend Danny. My dad had a friend from Spain who lived in Jacksonville as well, Nick(his family, Peggy, ,Jeff, and Robin ) they became my extended family. They were an enormous support group, and my 2nd friends.
I have not completed my education for my BA, or higher, but I would like to. I have traveled cross-country through out the US and just like John Melincamp sings ” ain’t that America, something to see baby”. We in the US have a beautiful country, so we need to defend its beauty.
I like to reserve some privacy, but for the most part, I am fairly open and opinionated.
