Job Requests Surfacing For Oil Clean Up Again In Pensacola Fl

There are adds being placed on Craigslist for oil clean up, individuals who have been through the process are posting, saying that it is all  fraudulent.  Somehow contractors put the word out they are hiring county workers for oil clean up.  The contractors have you come in,  fill out an application,  then put you on a stand by list while getting paid by Bp for your application information. What is going on?   Why say you are hiring if in fact you are not putting the applicants to work?   How is compensation possible for these contractors?   How is someones personal  information being used for a contractors wages?  Hundreds of workers locally were let go, red listed Aug 19th, p2s workers were let go on August 23rd.

P2s hired local county people  from the get go, after July 26, everywhere you went whether it was the unemployment office or contractors ,  it was a requirement that you had to  be a local resident of the county. There are all these stipulations put in place for workers when none of it is being adhered to.   Who do the contractors answer to, we want full disclosure from them.  They get the contracts and then  30% of the workers are local.  Why is this allowed? Dan Thomas from Wear TV did story on, Local Oil Clean Up Crews Are Not 100% Local, this video along with others, can be found  in the video listing on this link. All Local information reported regarding oil status.

I can only imagine the fiasco going on in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and other affected states.  If you are a worker or someone that would like to share your experience, I would love to hear from you.

Is BP Cutting Back, And Who Will Be The Remaining Contractors For Our Waters in Pensacola?

Front page on the PNJ today” BP cutting crews“.    A contractor, P2s, was let go with its people  Monday at the Fort Pickens location (supposedly replaced by another contractor who will intern hire new people??, and will the workers be from out of state????). P2s employees went to Fort Pickens yesterday to protest and my hat goes off to them!  If they are a functioning certified crew, why are they all being eliminated?   And does it affect p2s in Perdido , Johnson area as well?   P2s from my understanding hired all local people from Escambia county through the  Workforce Escarosa Center( Unemployment office) not sure if neighboring Santa Rosa, or Okaloosa County residents fell into this Escambia clean up crew as well.

Update On Legitimate HAZWOPERs Working The Oil Clean Up In Penscola, Florida

There seems to be a big lay off going on with workers.  I went to pick up my check yesterday at the office of GCRM  and inquired about my status of being placed on a “red list” they briefly showed me about 7 pages on 8×11(from top left corner to bottom left corner approx an inch wide) of names that were highlighted in red.  For all the people that have been red listed, supposedly this means there is a question regarding your HAZWOPER certification.

My certification is from Command Center, who provided the class and that I was employed by. I did not acquire it fraudulently.  I went to Myrick St this morning where  one of the main staging areas is located in Pensacola, and spoke to someone from Eagle SWS and I am waiting to talk to someone from BP.  I am crossing my fingers!  I just want to speak for myself, and others like myself, that I(we) should not be black balled for the company s that may have acted negligently.

I do not know where BP offices are located in Pensacola, if anyone knows please share!

Supposedly, there was an email faxed to sub contractors,  From ERG( can not find Emergency Response Group on line) or Eagel SWS notifying contractors  several companies( Able Body , Command Center, Training U and one more) have been put on the no more work list.  We are not able to work cleaning up oil… going to work for  a new contractor or obtaining a new HAZWOPER certification is not an option. All the workers under these staffing agencies have been banned.  Why is this happening , and is it only affecting the workers in Pensacola, or is it  all neighboring workers,  along the Gulf Coast Oil community states?

O’Brien’s Response Management is running the show in Pensacola, I do not know if they are still in Destin or Panama City…( I was told they had closed up shop down there) I’m not sure if they are  still in Louisiana and Alabama, and Mississippi. I have questions and maybe some of you in the know can help me find out.

If anyone can tell me what the official business name is for ERG and how to contact them I would appreciate it!

There is a lot of Oil in these waters and there is more to come, to surface, are they indoctrinating us , to push us to drill in the gulf now that are waters are dead?  Is that their plan no matter what.

Who Is Calling The Shots OSHA, BP, The Contractors?

Regarding the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill ,who is pulling the HAZWOPER Certifications OSHA, BP, the contractors ? Is the battle cutting costs , or are there way too many workers under trained?  I have to say, since the get go, I have not seen any contractor operating at 100% under OSHA regulations regarding Hazardous material.

Breakdown Of An Oil Spill Worker

July25
By: Nat on July 25, 2010

For those of you with Staff Agency experience you understand the duplicity involved.   There seems to be a lot of multiple charges for each oil spill worker, the head count, man count, seems to be very important. Why are the contractors subbing out to sub contractors and each charging for the same group within their assigned(hired) oil spill workers?  Shouldn’t one contractor charge as appose to multiples for the same people?  It seems the oil spill  worker walks away with the least compensation.  Is it administrative,  the food, the hotels?  Hotels were being provided if you were out of town.  There is two meals provided to the workers everyday( breakfast and lunch) and fresh fruit. ( Well it depends on your shift and the meals may be different) Who pays for the food and beverage vendors? There is also plenty of water and powerade provided as well.  There is trash and a lot of plastic bottles that are discarded as a result, I hope the plastic is being recycled!

Who and where is the allocation for the bids on the contracts of the Gulf Coast?  The Gulf Coast is being sold off in sections for the clean up, each contractor gets a region or section on the shoreline, I’m not sure how it works in the water, however, I’m sure it is the same.

I simply want transparency, it always seems in Emergency Disaster times corruption peaks its ugly head!

If you are a worker, concerned citizen,  who ever, I would love to hear from you!
